     About the Artist

Laubritter's Lullaby by E. Hasselbach

Elaine Hasselbach

As a Florida watercolorist, Elaine Hasselbach's work is inspired by her tropical environment, where the year-round sunlight enhances even the most common subject.  Her work is defined by its sensitivity to subject matter and her use of luminous color, which she achieves with multiple layering of transparent washes.  She is most recognized for her bold, vibrant florals and faces.

In addition to her paintings on paper, Elaine has developed her own unique approach to creating original watercolors on wedding invitations .  She has also added a new dimension to her large body of work with her latest endeavor, designing tropical themes on unfinished furniture for her Sanibel Collection.

She attended both Eastern Kentucky and Ohio State Universities.  In addition, she has studied with such prominent artists as Judi Betts, Marbury Brown, Christopher Schink, Naomi Brotherton, and Betty Lynch.  Since 1982, Elaine's award-winning work has been exhibited in many prestigious galleries, juried fine art shows and exhibitions - including Walt Disney World's Festival of the Masters, Tampa's Gasparilla Art Festival, Tampa Centennial Exhibition, and the Florida Watercolor Society Exhibition at Stetson University.
